cassie's big heart

"Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples"

As Thursday rolled around i woke up with a knot in my throat, and a strange feeling in my stomach..One of my best friends was going in for open heart surgery, and i knew it wasn't going to be a simple procedure! I Have been so incredibly encouraged by cassie from the start of her knowing she was going to have to go in for surgery (you can read more about that here) she has trusted in the Lord so completely and has had such a great attitude about the whole thing. I could only have the same courage that she has shown.
Thursday morning i woke up around 5:50am and headed to Oaklands Children's Hospital with 2 of my other friends to be there to support Cassie and the rest of their family. When we got there i was so blown away by the amount of support that was being shown to Cass. I looked across the crowded cafeteria and saw so many faces that loved cassie and were there bright and early to pray and gather around and lift one another up in their time of need. as the hours passed many more kept trickling in...and it wasn't long till we had the whole back of the cafeteria taken up by people who truly knew what it is to love.
If there's one thing i love about our church, it is our Love for one another. No matter what is going on in your life...whether good times, or not so great times, there are people who will at the drop of a hat be there for you. They are people who Pray fervently , and are there to encourage you with word of truth...in times when our sight is clouded and we need reminded of the God we serve and the God that Loves us. This love that was shown for cassie this week has spoken volumes to me and i think for everyone that was also in that wrestles cafeteria...you couldn't help but wonder who all these happy people were; who had smiles on their faces even though they were dealing with some really heavy stuff. Its those smiles that can only be put on because you know that the Lord is in control of all things, and that his ways are far better than our ways. Its the smile that can only be put on when you are surrounded by your brothers and sisters in christ, and its that smile that you can put on when you know that you have soo many people praying and that the lord hears our prayers.

I am so happy to report that Cassie came through surgery like a champ. All the complications that they were worried about did not happen...the surgery also was done quicker than they had anticipated (5 hrs instead of 6.5) they were also able to find a hole in her heart that they hadn't seen before and were able to patch that up while they were in there. Please continue to pray for cassie during her recovery process. that there wouldn't be any complications and that she would heal quickly. Also that she would be able to get some rest, as well as her family.

Cassie i love you and i am SOOO very proud of you, and am proud to call you my friend! you are amazing and i cannot wait to see what the lord is going to do in your life through this! <3 <3
