There are many things you miss out on when your boyfriend is deployed. There are no real dates, there is no hanging out, and conversations aren't as frequent as one would hope. In order to try and make this a little bit easier, phil and I started "video skyping" on his days off which are mondays. I like to think of it as our date day haha. Our dates always include sitting in front of the computer screen...there is no dinner or movie or night on the town....but there is ALWAYS lots of laughing and smiles and two happy people who are trying to make the most of this pretty crappy situation haha.
Some days just kinda seem to drag on, and are hard, and its always a relief when you can actually look at that person who you are missing so terribly. looking at them reminds you why you are sticking this out and that this "little" deployment is only for a season (praise the lord).
These little dates of ours are not always perfect ahha. This past monday skype decided it was just gonna not work so great, Phil's internet kept being slow, and my poor macbook that is falling apart decided that it just wants to fall apart some more. Its always a little exciting cause you never know what you are going to get with these type of things; ahha but i did get to see that face i love for a little bit so that was always nice!
I love skype, and I think that video chatting is a wonderful invention that makes things like this a little bit more bearable. I am so happy that we don't live in an era where only letter writing is possible.( since it takes like 2 or 3 weeks to recieve a letter....though we do write to eachother lots). I feel blessed to live in a time and place where i am able to talk to Phil every single day....and even see his face even for one day a week, though he is thousands and thousands of miles away. It is pretty great. I think the lord knew that I wouldn't be strong enough for the other way haha.
