The wise words of Jonathon Edwards.

As i was spending time in the snack shack on saturday, i decided to read (like every time im in there) in order to pass the time. I looked in my lovely large Gap book bag and found many choices of reading material. I had crazy love,cs. lewis classics, my bible, and The Sermons of Jonathon Edwards. after much contemplation i chose Mr. Edwards....I was not dissapointed.
I could read his words all day...and really thats kinda what i did ...a whole 7 hours worth of reading is what i did to be exact. His words are wise, and true, and seem to cut right to the heart of the very points he is trying to convey. I love his heart for the lord, and his desire for people to come to a place of true repentance, and seek after the one who is worthy of all our praise. I thought i would share some of the things he said, profound or not, that just really resonated with me yesterday as i poured through pages of that book i LOVE.

"His promise lives. his word is established as a sure record in heaven, and his faithfulness to his promise lives. His mercy lives. He is a Redeemer of the same grace and mercy that ever he was, and his love to him that believes on him lives. For whom he loves, he loves to the end. He hath loved them with an everlasting love

"for what could be more joyful to a man than to know that he is safe from the dreadful eternal destruction that the greater part of the world are exposed to, to know that he is out of the reach of the sting of death, and the power of hell, to know that there is a glorious almighty God, and this God , is his God; to know that Christ is the judge of heaven and earth, and yet to know that He is his Redeemer;to know that there is a day of judgment, and also to know that then they shall stand at the right hand of Christ; to know that there is a heaven of eternal glory, and to know that this is a kingdom prepared for them; to know that God has loved 'em before the foundation of the world, that their names were written on Christ's heart then, and that he died out of love to them and will love them to eternity?"
(if the knowledge of these truths in your life dont bring you joy...i don't know what will. We serve and awesome god).

"hath any man much comfort and strong hope of eternal life, let not his hope lift him up, but dispose him the more to abase himself, and reflect on his own exceeding unworthiness of such a favor, and to exalt God alone. Is any man eminent in holiness, and abundant in good works, let him take nothing of the glory of it to himself, but ascribe it to him whose "workmanship we are, created in Christ Jesus unto good works"

I hope you all found these little blurps as encouraging as i did!
